1. Red Digital: An Approach to Digital Educational Contents.

Our current purpose is to keep you informed about the present situation of ICTs and education in both national and European settings; to offer information, references and supporting material to those involved in the working, learning and researching processes concerning ICTs in education; to support and foster efficient and consolidated initiatives on the use and implementation of ICTs in educational contexts; and to provide, in short, the educational community with a forum that will enable them to share their experiences. In addition, the journal’s artistic and functional design has been restructured in order to improve the experience of use.

From this point of view, this issue shows, from a wide and plural perspective, a collection of reflections, contributions and thematic information about interactive multimedia contents at the service of education. In this sense, there can be no doubt that, at present time, we need to make use of a wide and high quality range of materials. In fact, several initiatives are being promoted at a national level (Internet en el Aula, different initiatives from the Spanish autonomous regions, etc.) and at an international level (eContentPlus, RELPE – Latin-American Network of Educational Portals).
